Between childhood dream and entrepreneurial adventure

Born into a family of 8 children, the designer already knew that throwing things away was not an option. It was in 2012 that Davy Dao decided to launch his brand of jeans made in France , ethical and responsible : a desire to do things differently.

The 4.oz selvedge chevron is Dao's signature denim, a strong and durable denim uniquely woven. Dao then became one of the first French brands to manufacture selvedge jeans in France, more precisely in Nancy.

Selvedge corresponds to the contraction of the English word “Self-finished edge”, which means “finished edge” in French. Selvedge jeans are therefore jeans whose fabric is very tight and whose ends are reinforced with selvedges. This makes it stronger and prevents it from fraying. The warp threads at the ends are colored, often with a red border, making the canvas particularly aesthetic and allowing it to be distinguished from other jeans.
