In 1907, Théophile RONDINAUD , a shoemaker established in La Rochefoucauld, began creating his wool felt slippers, known for their comfort and warmth . It was his successor, James RONDINAUD, who, with the idea of modernizing, developing and promoting them, managed to popularize them on a global scale, succeeding in exporting them throughout the world.
Each individual contributes to the process of making Charentaises using the famous sew-and-turn technique, an age-old craft whose method has not evolved. The hand of the craftsman remains essential in this process.
