The Minor
Breton manufacturing since 1922
It all began in 1922, in Lorient , when Madame Berthe Etui created the Manufacture Bonneterie Lorientaise at MBL, the ancestor of Le Minor hosiery. The company then manufactured sailor sweaters for fishermen.
At the same time, in 1936, Marie-Anne Le Minor founded her company in Pont L'Abbé. The Minor developed and became a fashion brand during the 1960s before winning the French Navy market in 1970. The company then began to manufacture the regulatory jersey for the French Navy and produced between 5,000 and 15 000 officer sweaters per year, until 2010.
It was in 1982 that Le Minor and MBL merged to better represent the excellence of Breton manufacturing .
Today the brand imagines and reinvents emblematic Breton pieces such as the sailor sweater or the sailor top , with the use of old machines. This 100% Breton hosiery received the “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” label in April 2023 thanks to the safeguarding and transmission of its know-how.
